Mexico: poverty rate by gender and severity 2014-2018
Women in Mexico were more likely to face poverty than men. However, one it comes to extreme poverty, men were on average in a slightly more vulnerable situation. In 2018, it was estimated that nearly 7.4 percent of the female population in Mexico lived in extreme poverty, while among the male population the figure stood at 7.5 percent. Regarding moderate poverty rate, the figure was 1.1 percent higher among women than men.
