In a survey conducted in late 2018 about the consumer regulatory system in New Zealand, 80 percent of respondents claimed they were aware of the Disputes Tribunal of New Zealand. In New Zealand, the Disputes Tribunal is used to settle minor disputes without going to court. The decisions of the Tribunal are legally binding, and the process is usually quicker, cheaper and less formal than court.
