In 2020, it was estimated that nearly 3.8 million indigenous people in Mexico lacked access to health services, up from 1.8 million indigenous people registered in 2018. More than 35 million Mexicans were considered socially vulnerable due to their lack of access to health care services in 2020.

In addition, it includes people who said they spoke an indigenous language and who were not part of these households.
