The transaction value of *99# payments in India in June 2023 amounted to over 303 million Indian rupees. *99# was a USSD based mobile banking service of NPCI which was launched in November 2012, aiding the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana. It allows customers to access financial, non-financial and value-added services by dialing the digits on their mobile phones.
