Medical homes in Wallonia 2018, by location
In Belgium, medical homes offer access to a variety of health providers. In 2018, the region of Wallonia registered 92 medical homes. Yet, 60 of them were situated in an urban area, 16 were located in semi-urban areas and 16 in rural areas.
In other words, two-thirds of the medical homes were located in the urban areas of Wallonia. The most urban municipalities of Wallonia being Charleroi, Liège, Mons, and Namur.
Medical homes provide health care regardless of social inequities. In Wallonia, urban municipalities register the most economically disadvantaged population. Thus, explaining their high concentration.
