Population covered by public or private health insurance in Turkey 2002-2020
The Republic of Turkey introduced a ten-year health system reform in 2003 to provide universal health coverage. Evidence of the reform's success can be seen in the percentage of the population covered under public health insurance, which has greatly increased from just 70 percent in 2002 to over 98 percent by 2020. The percentage of the Turkish population with private health insurance has also increased in the same time interval.
