Pension funds' assets in Italy 2001-2020

In 2020, the assets' value of pension funds in Italy amounted to over 198 billion U.S. dollars. This figure represents a sharp increase compared to the previous years. In fact, after starting approximately 95 billion euros in 2010, the assets' value of pension funds grew significantly in the following years in Italy.
Pension funds' assets are defined as assets bought with the contributions to a pension plan for the exclusive purpose of financing pension plan benefits. The pension fund is a pool of assets forming an independent legal entity.
