Volume of pearl exports Indonesia 2017-2021
In 2021, Indonesia exported ten metric tons of pearls. Indonesia is the world's largest producer of white and golden South Sea pearls that are made by the Pinctada maxima oyster, the world's largest pearl oyster. The South Sea pearls are produced in several countries. However, the golden South Sea pearls are mostly from Indonesia or the Philippines, while the white ones are mostly from Australia and Indonesia. South Sea pearls are the most valuable among all cultivated pearls as they're the largest and rarest.
