HPV vaccination coverage in Belgium 2018, by age

Vaccination against human papillomavirus (HPV) is recommended between the ages of 11 and 14, to immunize before being exposed to the risk (sexual contact). In 2018, the rate of vaccination against HPV in Belgian women, aged 12 to 20, was rather low. Only 10 percent of young Belgian women had been vaccinated against HPV during 2018. In line with these recommendations, most girls in Belgium were vaccinated at age 13. Nonetheless, a catch-up measure allows vaccination to be done until the age of 19. For instance, roughly 21 percent of girls aged 15 had been vaccinated in 2018. Such a vaccine is recommended to prevent the risk of cervical, vaginal, and anal cancer.
