Leading sellers on Amazon.com in Europe January 2020, based on feedback

As of the last quarter of 2019, more than half of paid units sold on Amazon were by third party sellers. Considering that third party selection made up only a quarter of Amazon sales volume back in 2007, Amazon has come a long way not only as an online retail company, but also as an online marketplace, providing these usually small-sized businesses with wide visibility and shopper base.

European third party sellers on Amazon

In Europe, Germany-based MEDIMOPS was the leading third party seller, based on the number of feedbacks received from users who bought from this seller in the last 12-month period to January 2020. Around 370 thousand buyers engaged with and left reviews for MEDIMOPS, a second-hand retailer for books and multimedia products. Buyer feedback does not necessarily reflect the number of units sold, but gives an idea as to the sales volume enjoyed by a seller.

Books and multimedia buyers

Based on the top 15 third party sellers on Amazon Europe, Germany-based sellers were more prominent than sellers from France or the UK. The main products sold by these sellers were in the media and consumer electronics categories. In Europe, Germany distinguishes itself in another way when it comes to shopping with Amazon. According to the most recent annual report released by the company, Germany was Amazon’s leading European market in 2019, with net sales ahead of those made in the UK.

Supplementary notes

* The source notes that "[f]eedback is an indicator of sales volume, but not revenue. Not all buyers leave feedback, so the number of units sold will be higher than the volume of feedback received."
Data covers the last twelve months to January 2020. The countries paired with sellers refer to the marketplace where each seller makes most (or all) of their sales.
