Between the Australian federal election years of 2001 to 2019, public trust in the government rose in 2007 but fell steadily to 25 percent by 2019, which was the lowest level recorded since 1969. This drop in trust may have been influenced by a more frequent change in government and leadership from 2007 onwards in comparison to the relatively consistent leadership period prior to 2007.
