Public opinion

According to a survey conducted in the Philippines, Filipinos perceived that there would be an economic impact in the national economy due to the coronavirus COVID-19. Furthermore, they perceived that the government had acted appropriately on addressing the outbreak in the country.

On fears of the virus spreading throughout the country, Filipinos turn to the government for survival. Approximately 5.5 million people were classified as underpaid in 2017, where these workers were paid an hourly basic pay under two-thirds of the median hourly basic wage. The uncertainty of the future leaves many people wondering how they would be able to eat and provide for their families.
