Data prior to 2023 were taken from previous reports by the source.
Regarding methodology, the source adds the following information: "Per store employment figures obtained from ACS independent and multiple surveys. An average number of staff per store figure was calculated for both independent and multiple retailers. The average number of staff per store was then multiplied by the total number of stores in the sector (based on figures from WRBM). Results for independents and multiples were collated and combined according to their proportion of stores in the market, in order to determine overall results for the sector."
