Spain: motor vehicle production value

In 2020, the annual production value of the motor vehicle manufacturing industry in Spain amounted to almost 40.24 billion euro, a year-over-year decrease of 11.37 percent year-over-year. 2020 was a challenging year for the Spanish automotive industry, which faced decreased demand and an accelerated semiconductor shortage due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The source understands production value as the amount generated for each unit, including changes in inventories and the resale of goods and services. The value of production is defined as turnover or turnover, plus or minus changes in inventories of finished products, work in progress and goods and services purchased for resale; less purchases of goods and services for resale, plus capitalized production, plus other operating income (excluding subsidies). Income and expenses classified in business accounting as financial or extra-ordinary are not included in the value of production.
