Temporary layoffs, also known as ERTE in Spanish, was the most popular measure taken by drink and catering businesses that decided to stop their activity temporarily due to the coronavirus outbreak in Spain in 2020. Some 75 percent of restaurants, bars, cafes and pubs in the country requested a temporary employment regulation file.
