The M1 money supply in the U.S. stood at 18.5 trillion U.S. dollars as of June 2023, significantly lower than a year before that. M1 money supply decreased significantly in the second half of 2022 and in the first half of 2023, after a period of sharp increase starting in May 2020. The sharp increase in May 2020 was a result of the Federal Reserve's quantitative easing in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
