Unemployment rate in France Q1 1975-Q3 2022, by age
The unemployment rate* in France increased between 1975 and 2022 for all age categories. In 1975, only young people aged 15 to 24 did not reach full employment (established at five percent). In 2020, only those aged 50 and over were in full employment, and by the third quarter of 2022, none of the age groups were. Over the decades, it is the latter category that has been the least affected by unemployment. The youth unemployment rate has exploded since 1975 from six percent to almost 28 percent in the last quarter of 2012.
