Mining industry as share of GDP in Mexico 2007-2021
In 2021, the mining sector in Mexico contributed 1.5 percent to the country's gross domestic product (GDP), the highest share since at least 2007. This represents a slight increase when compared to the previous year. From 2016 to 2019, the sector had maintained a stable contribution to the GDP, with a share of 1.1 percent. Furthermore, Mexico's mining sector GDP increased by less than one percent in the fourth quarter of 2021, when compared to a quarter earlier.
