Income percentage used to pay the rent in Spain 2021, by region
Residents of the Catalonia, the Basque Country, and Community of Madrid spent approximately half their gross income on paying house rent. In contrast, house rent was substantially more affordable in communities such as Castile-La Mancha and Extremadura. In these Spanish regions, the average rent was less than a quarter of the gross income.
