In a December 2020 survey, around 28 percent of surveyed adults in the United States said they planned to use the one-time COVID-19 stimulus check of 600 U.S. dollars to pay bills. Another 14 percent of respondents said they plan to use the funds to buy essential items like food or hygiene products.
