The share of university students who felt lonely in Denmark increased rapidly during the COVID-19 pandemic. In October 2020, only eight percent of the respondents felt lonely to a large or very large extent, a number which had increased to 27 percent by March 2021. Moreover, whereas around three fourths responded that they did not feel lonely at all or only felt so to a small extent in 2020, this had decreased to less than 50 percent by 2021.
