This statistic presents the number of universities in Spain in the academic year 2018/2019, by autonomous community. The Community of Madrid ranked as the Spanish region with the highest number of universities that year, totaling 14 universities. Catalonia followed with a total number of 12 universities, and Andalusia had 11 universities during the academic year 2018/2019.
