According to a March 2021 survey of Asian adults living in the United States, approximately three quarters of respondents had personally experienced online harassment based on their race or ethnicity and an overall 90 percent had witnessed this type of cyber bullying. Physical appearance and political views are also reported among the most frequent motives behind online harassment of others, as witnessed by responders. Overall, online and offline harassment of Asians has grown since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.
