Total forest loss worldwide 2001-2015, by specific agricultural commodity

As demand for food and other resources continues to grow, forests are often cleared to make new fields and plantations. Between 2001 and 2015, nearly 45.1 million hectares of forest land were converted to pastures for cattle accounting for 36 percent of all tree cover loss associated with agriculture.
