Japan: annual health care expenses for late-elderly

In the fiscal year 2019, medical care expenses under the health insurance system for advanced elderly people in Japan amounted to approximately 17 trillion Japanese yen, about five trillion yen of increase compared to fiscal 2010. Every Japanese citizen above 75 years old is withdrawn from the general health insurance and entitled to join the health insurance for advanced elderly operated by municipalities in Japan.
