Leading beach litter sources in Spain 2022
In 2022, tourism and sewage water were the main sources of plastic waste found on Spanish beaches. Combined, they accounted for nearly 40 percent of the amount of identifiable waste. Fishing as well as retail and hospitality also had a contribution above ten percent.
