Most popular FMCG brands in Romania 2022, by consumer reach points
The leading FMCG brand in Romania in 2022 was Coca-Cola, scoring 73 consumer reach points (CRP), followed by Pepsi with 44 CRPs. The dairy brand Zuzu ranked tenth with 26 points.

Romania’s bottled water and soft drinks manufacturing industry is expected to reach an annual revenue of 1.92 billion U.S. dollars by 2025, while the alcoholic drinks industry is predicted to double that amount – four billion U.S. dollars by the same year or 210.5 U.S. dollars per capita. The country is the sixth-largest wine producer in Europe. On average, a bottle of still wine cost 2.65 U.S. dollars in 2023, while a bottle of sparkling wine 11.51 U.S. dollars.
The annual volume of beer consumed per capita was 87 liters, which had decreased overall since 2008 when it was 99 liters per capita. Due to consumer demand, the number of active breweries increased yearly. In 2021, there were 93 breweries, Ursus being the largest.
Food Industry in Romania
The production, processing, and canning of meat/meat products was the largest sector in the food industry by far, registering a revenue of 22.1 billion Romanian lei in 2022. In this industry, most of the turnover was registered by large companies, while the small ones contributed only 12.7 percent to the pool. The most even distribution of revenue within small, medium, and large companies was the production of the bakery goods sector, each with roughly 30 percent and the last 10 percent belonging to micro-enterprises.
