According to monthly surveys conducted between January 2022 and January 2024, the vast majority of the South African respondents reported being pessimistic regarding the country's track. During the observed period, June 2023 had the largest share of South Africans feeling concerned about the country's direction, with 90 percent of the respondents believing that the nation was headed in the wrong direction .
