Migration causes for Central American persons in transit Guatemala 2020, by country
According to a survey carried out in Guatemala in 2020 with migrants from Central America who were in transit through the country, 92 percent of Guatemalan migrants had fled their homes to achieve better life conditions. And while this remained as the main reason to migrate of Hondurans and Salvadorans, more than 60 percent of migrants surveyed from these two countries claimed that violence and insecurity in their home countries was one of the causes to migrate.
