Awareness of climate change in African countries 2016-2018
In a study conducted between 2016 and 2018, six in 10 Africans declared to have heard about climate change before. On the contrary, 40 percent of respondents were not familiar with the term. Mauritius, Malawi, and Uganda registered the highest percentages of respondents who stated to have heard about climate change. Africa is particularly vulnerable to climate change. A large part of the population lives below the poverty line and its livelihood depends on activities extremely sensitive to climate changes and weather conditions.
