Distribution of refugees in camps in Sudan 2021
Sudan hosts over one million refugees and asylum seekers. As of October 2021, about 70 percent of them were living outside of refugee camps. The majority of refugees and asylum seekers are South Sudanese. Other common countries of origin include the neighboring countries of Eritrea, the Central African Republic, Ethiopia, and Chad. However, people fleeing from wars in Syria and Yemen are also pushed to find safety in Sudan. Nonetheless, the Sudanese are also victims of violence and persecution, and that has led many to escape to other neighboring countries.
