Coal production in Africa 2019, by country
South Africa produced the largest amount of coal in Africa as of 2019. The country registered an output of roughly 254.4 million metric tons of coal, which corresponded to over 90 percent of the continent's production volume. Mozambique was the second main coal producer in Africa, with an output of nearly 14 million metric tons.
