Sector of activity of immigrants in France 2019, by continent of birth
In France, the first two sectors employing the most migrants in 2019 were wholesale and retail trade, transport, accommodation and catering, with nearly 690,000 people in employment, and public administration, education, health and social work, with more than 678,000 people. However, people born in Africa were more prevalent in the latter sector than in the former.
In 2020, the employment rate of migrants was 59.2 percent, or eight percentage points lower than that of people with no migration background.
