By 2100, France is expected to record the largest annual damage caused by river flooding within the European Union. Under a no-adaptation, 1.5ºC warming scenario, France could face damages of over five billion euros; under a 3.0ºC warming scenario, the cost would rise to nearly nine billion euros. In contrast, Cyprus had the lowest expected annual damage due to river floods in the EU, with costs standing below 10 million euros under all three warming scenarios.
