Energy from thermal source of EDF Group in France 2020-2023, by facility
In 2023, the net energy produced by thermal power plants operated by the EDF Group in France was over nine terawatt-hours. Combined Cycle Gas Turbines (CCGT) produced around six terawatt-hours of energy per year and were the main source of thermal power generation of the EDF Group in France. Coal-fired facilities generated around 0.25 terawatt-hours of energy in 2023, a decrease by almost 84 percent compared to 2022.
Gas and fuel oil combustion turbines had a higher thermal generation capacity than coal-fired units, and their energy production was two times of the energy produced by the latter.
