In 2021, the U.S. Congress passed the Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill proposed by the Biden Administration, an infrastructure package which includes funding for urban transit, roads & bridges, airports, rail, among others. The stimulus assigned 102 billion U.S. dollars for rail funding, from which almost 40 percent will go to Federal-State partnerships for intercity passenger rail.
