Population of the French overseas regions 2019, by region and age group
In 2019, people under 14 years of age were the largest age group in La Réunion and in French Guiana, with 194,940 and 92,339 individuals, respectively. In Guadeloupe and Martinique, people between 45 and 59 years of age were the most numerous, with 89.834 and 89.973 inhabitants, respectively.
In these two regions, the population has been declining in recent years, while the population of French Guiana has increased sixfold in five decades, and that of La Réunion has doubled.
