The Caribbean Netherlands consists of three special municipalities, Bonaire, Sint-Eustatius and Saba. Residents in Sint-Eustatius and Saba could speak English more than any other language in 2021. Papiamento, a Portuguese-based language, is an official language in Bonaire and is spoken by over 88 percent of the population.
