Mature technologies such as renewable energy and technologies in early adoption such as carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) can reduce 65 percent of emissions needed for the world to achieve net-zero by 2050. This leaves a remaining gap of 35 percent that requires new technologies not yet commercially scalable such as hydrogen electrolysis from seawater.
