The number of wine grower holdings in Europe shrank by over 10 percent between 2015 and 2020. There were 2.45 million such holdings in 2015 and just 2.19 million in 2020.

An agricultural holding is defined by Eurostat as a single unit, both technically and economically, operating under a single management and which undertakes economic activities in agriculture within the economic territory of the European Union, either as its primary or secondary activity. The holding may also provide other supplementary (non-agricultural) products and services.
From 2015 onwards, data was collected by Eurostat from national and regional registers
