QR code payment app ownership rate in Japan 2022, by age

The share of consumers in Japan owning QR code payment apps differs little between age groups, a survey conducted in November 2022 found. Around 76 percent of respondents aged 40 to 49 owned payment apps that allow settlements by scanning a QR code or barcode. The age group of 60 to 69-year-olds had a lower percentage of owners, at 65 percent. The overall ownership rate of QR code payment apps was 73 percent.
