In 2023, credit card payments in Japan amounted to 105.7 trillion Japanese yen. QR code payments followed with a transaction value of 10.9 trillion yen, surpassing the value of electronic money payments for the second time. The cashless payment ratio in Japan increased by 3.3 percentage points year on year.
