Antibiotics are medications that can kill or hinder the growth of bacteria which can cause infections in people and animals. In 2022, a survey on the topic of resistance to antibiotics, revealed that 39 percent of EU citizens thought incorrectly that antibiotics were effective in killing viruses. This statistic displays the share of people answering correctly when asked if antibiotics kill viruses in EU27 in 2022.
