Global nuclear reactor power output 2021, by reactor type
As of December 31, 2021, all operational pressurized water reactors (PWR) worldwide achieved a net electrical power output of 288.2 gigawatts. PWRs are the most common type of nuclear reactors used in nuclear power plants, with 303 in operation at that time. By comparison, boiling water reactors were the second most used reactor type, with a net electrical power of 61.8 gigawatts.
