According to a 2019 survey of American coffee drinkers, 29 percent of the respondents consumed two cups of coffee per day at home during the week on average. The survey also found that 9 percent of coffee drinkers in the United States drank six or more cups of coffee.

Private label regular ground coffee was the fourth leading brand in that category, with sales of 437.5 million U.S. dollars. A relatively new innovation in the coffee industry is the single-cup coffee brewing system. The leading vendor of single-cup coffee in the United States is Keurig Green Mountain.
