Burger King - additional information

Founded in 1954, Burger King is a U.S.-based quick service burger restaurant chain that is also known by the abbreviation ‘BK’. Since the 1950’s Burger King has evolved into an international brand with more than 17,000 Burger King restaurants worldwide.

The revenue of Burger King has seen growth over the last three years reaching 1.65 billion U.S. dollars in 2018. Despite the decrease in revenue, the number of American customers has remained steady. According to the American customer satisfaction index, Burger King scored 76 points out of a possible 100 points in 2018, showing an descrease by one point, since the previous year, in overall customer satisfaction.

In 2014, Burger King and the Canadian QSR-chain Tim Hortons merged under the parent company Restaurant Brands International, although both restaurants maintained their individual brands and headquarters. The purpose of the merger was to create a synergy between the two brands in terms of accessing the global market place and improving practices within the companies. Additionally, on March 27, 2017, Restaurant Brands International acquired Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen, Inc. and its consolidated subsidiaries.
