Motorcycle production in China – additional information
According to the graph at hand, monthly motorcycle production has receded during the first quarter of 2015, with a production low of 1.23 million bikes in February 2015. At the same time, 1.29 million motorcycles had been sold. Since 2008, China’s motorcycle industry has seen a steady decline.In 2013, 25.75 million motorcycles had been sold in China. In relation, motorcycle sales in the United States had totaled to approximately 466 million sold units in the same year.
As of 2013, about 38.5 motorcycles per 100 households had been owned in China, marking a significant increase when compared to 20.27 motorcycles in 2012. Almost half of the motorcycles had been owned by households with low and low to medium incomes, which may coincide with a ban of motorcycles above a certain engine capacity from downtown areas of major Chinese cities such as Guangzhou and Shanghai. Nevertheless, China has become a large exporter of motorcycles. From 2002 to 2012, the export value of automobile parts and motorcycles from China had increased considerably from 3.13 billion to 60.74 billion U.S. dollars.
Da Changjiang and Loncin have been the most successful motorcycle manufacturers in China. Between January and November 2014, Da Changjiang and Loncin had generated a total sales volume of 1.9 million and 1.26 million units, respectively.
