Arrests from police stop and searches 2002-2020

Data on the amount of arrests resulting from stop and searches carried out by the police in England and Wales under section 60 of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act (1994) from fiscal year 2002/03 to fiscal year 2019/20, by reason for arrest shows that searches made under this legislation are made primarily to find offensive weapons and/or dangerous instruments. The peak in terms of arrests for offensive weapons was in 2008/09.
