Number of medium and large retail companies failing in the United Kingdom (UK) from 2007 to 2023
Retailers are included based on those who went into receivership or administration at the time of research during the 12 month periods between 2007 and 2021 and on the source's (Centre of Retail Research) understanding of their business affairs. Of these companies, some may have since recovered in some form and the business or it's name may therefore still exist.
The figures do not include takeovers unless they were deemed as equivalent to business failure.
