About This Statistic
This statistic illustrates the ten main export destinations for cars produced in the UK in 2015 and 2016, represented by percentage share. In 2015, 77.3 percent of vehicles built in the UK were exported. The EU accounted for 57.5 percent of UK-built vehicle exports in 2015. China and the USA are also significant export partners and together make up almost 20 percent of the UK's car export volume. Meanwhile, Japan and South-Korea, both big player in the automotive industry themselves, only accounted for 1.8 percent of cars to Japan and 1.7 percent of cars to South-Korea. While this sounds like a very small proportion, the number of cars exported to the Asian markets grows steadily.
Taking a further look into this development, the European market seems to remain the leading market for cars exported from the UK, but other regions are growing by a significant rate.
